exhibits from a new museum
“ A terrified rock star
sits in a cop car
What will they do,
if the political parties roll into one and leave it to you?”
Mad Hatter 1971
in the rock garden there is
the sound of falling water in a pool
the green home to koi
wind chimes sing in the gentle breeze
joy and sadness are together here
as the air is joined with sunlight
as I am joined with you
they huddled together
wind off the river
standing in line
like in earliest days
long before Reich
long before three
long before you
long before trinity
holy or otherwise
every one learns
looking in faces
tired of the fight
every thing changes
cold as the wind
wind off the river
eyes that are dim
not seeing it our way
plenty of money
for holding their ground
for protecting their masters
for smashing opponents
helpless and captive
smelling of sweat
pushing and holding
others at home
watching big brother
hard at his work
filming it all
for further inspection
further dissection
brothers and sisters
knowing that others
not in the fight
will still have opinions
out of the media
out of the square
they huddled together
wind off the river
standing in line
waiting for cattle trucks
here they are now
then they are gone
all disappeared
too late for salvation
now there is fear
you let it happen
you made it possible
talking of peace
a truce with the beast
no empathy
no solidarity
they were so beautiful
filled with ambition
not for themselves
you let them go
you gave them up
it could have been better
united and strong
so sup up your ale
turn down the lamp
they are taking us now
to the holiday camp
